KANNUR: Finance Minister K M Mani has said that the Prime Minister should remain with those who are “right” on the Mullaperiyar issue.Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, he said that the Prime Minister should clarify who is right and who is wrong on the issue and should see that justice is done to the aggrieved. “Following the intervention of the Prime Minister, the agitation over Mullaperiyar was temporarily stopped but it would be resumed if no settlement is found to the dispute within a month,” he added. He said that a new dam was essential at Mullaperiyar and that Tamil Nadu’s permission was not necessary to build a dam on Kerala’s land. “The government has already decided to build a new dam at Mullaperiyar. An amount of `5 crore was set apart in the last budget for the initial expenses relating to the construction of a new dam.”
