BANGALORE: Police Commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji has warned to take strict action against those who make prank calls to 108 emergency ambulance services.Speaking after inaugurating blood donation camp organised by GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute as part of World Blood Donors’ Day here on Tuesday, he said, “108 services is doing a great job by saving the lives of many accident victims. But, some people are causing trouble to its staffers by making false calls and telling them about accidents that have not taken place. By this, the precious time of the staff and other resources are being wasted.” “The police department will consider such prank calls seriously and strict action will be taken against those who make such calls. People should understand that their pranks could prove costly for some other person’s life.” He also assured the staff that the traffic police would not treat them as evidence in cases of accidents. However, he requested them to give whatever details they have about the accident to the police, as it would help in the investigation.
