BANGALORE: Rajya Sabha Member Rajeev Chandrashekhar has said that he will introduce Armed Forces Covenant Bill, 2011, a private bill on the lines of United States Congress, which which recently ratified a bill providing tax incentives to companies that hire army veterans, in the current Parliamentary session and urged the government to support it with suitable amendmentsIn a letter addressed to Union Defence Minister A K Antony and a copy of which was released to media, he stated his intention was to introduce the private member’s bill  to enact a similar legislation in India.Chandrashekhar mentioned that the government must seriously consider passing such legislation as this would boost the limited opportunities available for Armed Forces Veteranswho are required to take up employment after their release from the forces. He further stated that they retire at an early and need to support their families. According to him, a large number of Armed Forces personnel are released at a comparatively young age. This is done in order  to maintain a youthful  profile of the Indian Armed Forces.
