Mumbai: Farah Khan's 'Tees Maar Khan' starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif will be released in December. The film may just give Akshay Kumar's sinking career some respite this year.
Farah has two blockbusters behind her and this is the first time that she is working with Akshay instead of her former best friend Shah Rukh Khan. The director promises that her film will be an out and out entertainer.
"There are many highlights in the film. I made sure there is a highlight in every reel, it's a script written by my husband Shirish and it's a mad and completely funny script," says Farah Khan.
While mad and funny it might be, question is whether it is original. News is that the plot of 'Tees Maar Khan' has been heavily borrowed from the 1966 comedy 'After The Fox' featuring Peter Sellers.
Like in the Peter Sellers film, in 'Tees Maar Khan', Akshay Kumar plays a master of disguise who pretends to be a filmmaker and involves an entire village in pulling off a heist without them knowing it.
"When you are working on a genre it might resemble to some film you see. 'Pearl Harbour' looks like 'Sangam'. Have they copied? I don't think so. There is a chance that a con film may resemble hundred con films in some way or the other," says 'Tees Maar Khan' Writer-Producer Sirish Kunder.
While it many not be entirely convincing, what remains original is the title track composed by Sirish which has singer Sonu Nigam singing in 54 different voices.
"It includes the Indian chorus, the Chinese chorus, Akshay's voice in the song, Akshay's dialogue, so if there were 10 chorus singers then he has sung it 12 times in different ways. It was quite a challenge and we liked it," says Sirish.
So has this film on the life of a thief actually been stolen from another film? Wait till 'Tees Maar Khan' releases to pass a verdict on that.
