KASARGOD: The District Collector has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Kerala Police Act in the Vidyanagar and Kasargod police station limits for seven days from Sunday. The decision was taken in the wake of a section of people trying to take out a march at Uliyathadka in Madhur grama panchayat, where a youth was stabbed by a group of unidentified persons around 10.30 pm on Saturday. The miscreants, who came in a motorbike, managed to escape after committing the crime. The youth, Haneef, 19, son of Zubair of Uliyathadka, who was first admitted to a hospital here, was rushed to a private hospital in Mangalore later. The police suspect that the incident is part of a move to create communal tension in the area. The district office of the DYFI had come under attack a few days ago, but the police immediately nabbed the culprits.A heavy contingent of police is keeping vigil in Uliyathadka town following the incident. The police staged a flag march in the town in the evening.
