Protest at Cusat

KOCHI: The students of Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) took out a protest march to the administrative block demanding better facilities on the campus, on Wednesday.T h e s t u d e n t s o f School of Engineering, Instrumentation, Ship Technology, Polymer Science and MSc Photonics submitted a representation at the Syndicate meet demanding that the issues such as poor hostel and classroom facilities, potable water, dearth of permanent staff, better teaching facilities and ‘N minus 4’ system by which only those who clear first and second semesters can enter the fourth semester be addressed.The system was implemented with the aim of improving quality.Register A Ramachandran said the demands of the students will be looked into.He said that the Syndicate will discuss the issues.As for the ‘N minus 4’ system, he said it is as per the BTech regulation of the Academic Council.The Syndicate does not have the powers to amend it will refer it to the Academic Council, he said.The students said they ended their protest after the Vice- Chancellor Ramachandran Thekkedath ensured them that all the issues would be resolved soon
