Pune Porsche Accident: JJB Member LN Danwade, Who Let Accused Go After Writing an Essay, Avoids Media Questions
The Juvenile Justice Board had asked the 17-year-old to work with the traffic police in Yerawada for 15 days, write an essay on the accident, get medical treatment to quit drinking, and undergo psychiatric counselling.

As probe into the Pune Porsche crash continues, Dr LN Danwade, member of the Juvenile Justice Board, who granted bail to the 17-year-old, was seen avoiding questions being raised by reporters. In a video going viral on social media, Danwade, who granted bail to the accused after making him write an essay, was seen running away without answering questions being asked by a group of reporters surrounding away. While a reporter followed Danwade’s two-wheeler in his car and continued to ask questions, the JJB member refused to speak.

Danwade has been under fire for letting the 17-year-old, who crushed two bike-borne IT professionals to death with his Porsche car, go free without any strict punishment. The board had asked the 17-year-old to work with the traffic police in Yerawada for 15 days, write an essay on the accident, get medical treatment to quit drinking, and undergo psychiatric counselling. The advocate of the accused had said his bail had conditions aimed at rehabilitation and awareness.

According to the police, the minor was detained after a case was registered against him after the accident. He was produced in a juvenile court, which granted him bail. While details of the bail hearing were not made public, police said the court found the crime “not serious” enough to deny bail. As per the court order, which came within 14 hours of the minor’s detention, several conditions were imposed on his release.

New Details in The Case

Meanwhile, new details continue to emerge in the case, making it murkier every passing day. The case has exposed corruption and crime at various levels in the city of Pune.

Earlier this week, the Pune Police arrested Surendra Kumar Agarwal, the grandfather of the 17-year-old Pune Porsche driver. Agarwal has been charged for helping his builder son, Vishal Agarwal, abscond, and ‘kidnapping’ and putting pressure on the driver to take the accident blame. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar had earlier said that there is an attempt being made to frame a driver instead of the teenager.

The grandfather of the 17-year-old boy had allegedly made payments to gangster Chhota Rajan in a shootout case, police sources told News18. According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has charge-sheeted the boy’s grandfather, he allegedly contracted Chhota Rajan in 2009 to execute Shiv Sena corporator Ajay Bhosale.

Meanwhile, Shivani Agrawal, the mother of the 17-year-old accused, has reportedly gone incommunicado. She came to the forefront after a video was widely circulated on social media with claim that the accused uploaded a rap video on the day he got bail. Shivani had clarified that the featuring her son is “fake”.

Some local reports claimed that the juvenile’s blood sample, which was supposed to be tested after the accident, was swapped with his mother, Shivani Agrawal. A report in ABP Majha quoted sources as saying that the doctors of Sassoon hospital have mentioned in the report of the inquiry committee that the changed blood sample of the teenager belongs to a woman. However, sources told News18 that there is no confirmation yet that the sample belongs to Shivani Agarwal.
