BANGALORE: The Lokayukta raid on Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s former commissioner H Siddaiah made headlines on Wednesday. However, there is more to this, as the timing of the raid, according to some insiders, points at a larger conspiracy suggesting that it was the backlash for handing over Rs 1,500 crore bill scam to Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF).Siddaiah, who was once hailed for his frank and stern approach to work, has suddenly become a ‘forbidden topic’. The BBMP councillors who have differences on every topic, found a common ground to vent their ire, irrespective of parties. After handing over Rs 1,500 crore scam to BMTF, he instantly became their ‘top enemy’ as the councillors sought his removal and stood united for his removal as well. They had complained that he had not taken the consent of Mayor Sharadamma, who was then travelling in USA before entrusting probe to BMTF.A Victim of Conspiracy: Siddaiah Former Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner H Siddaiah has clarified on the Lokayukta raid and even gone ahead as far as to say that the authorities have ‘underestimated’ the net value of his over all assets.Speaking to Express, he clarified that he and his wife have over 56 years of service and were part of an undivided Hindu Family. He claimed that the value of his properties has been inaccurately estimated and stated that he is only a victim of a conspiracy.
