Railways Ministry Dismisses Claims Of Mismanagement, Overcrowding; Says Don't Share 'Misleading' Videos
Clarifications are being given on a case-to-case basis and people are advised not to believe in such rumours, sources said

The Indian Railways Ministry has shot down claims of mismanagement and overcrowding in its AC (air-conditioned) coaches with videos as proof and has asked people to “not malign” its image and refrain from sharing “old misleading videos”.

As per Railway Sources, there is currently a social media campaign underway to damage the reputation of the national carrier. It has been observed that some users have been sharing incorrect or outdated videos to show mismanagement in AC coaches.

Upon investigation, no evidence of mismanagement has been found on the ground. Clarifications are being given on a case-to-case basis and people are advised not to believe rumors.

As per Railway Sources, a social media campaign, to damage the national carrier’s reputation, is currently taking place. It has been observed that some users have been sharing incorrect or outdated videos to show mismanagement in AC coaches, they added.

However, Indian Railways noted that the claims have been investigated and no such proof to substantiate them were found.

Sharing a video of a coach’s present condition, the Ministry of Railways, replied to a user’s claim of overcrowding in the 2nd AC coach. The ministry wrote, “The present video of the coach. No overcrowding. Please don’t malign the image of Indian Railways by sharing misleading videos.”

In another such response, the Railways Ministry said that the videos, which are being used to claim that IR is giving “horrific” treatment and the quality of service has degraded, are old ones.

“It is hereby informed that videos shared in this post are old. Watch the present condition of train mentioned. IR is running record number of additional trains in this season to facilitate passengers,” the ministry said in its response post on X.

Refuting claims of a door glass being broken in 3AC coach of Kaifiyat Express, the Railways Ministry shared a video and noted that no such incident was found during the internal investigation.

“Based on the internal investigation. No such incident related to breaking of glass was reported. Kindly refrain from sharing old misleading videos,” it said.

Clarifications are being given on a case-to-case basis and people are advised not to believe in such rumours, sources said.
