Lucknow: Independent MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh known as Raja Bhaiyya is back in the UP Cabinet. He was re-inducted as a Cabinet minister in the Mulayam Singh Yadav led government in Uttar Pradesh.

Raja Bhaiyya was administered the oath of office and secrecy at a function at Raj Bhavan in Lucknow on Saturday morning. His portfolio would be announced later.

Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh and other ministers were present on the occasion.

Earlier, Raja Bhaiyya had resigned following a Supreme Court order quashing the decision of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government to revoke POTA charges against him.

He had subsequently surrendered before the Kanpur POTA court and the case was now being tried by a Jabalpur court. Singh was enlarged on bail in December.

Raja Bhaiyya said that he had resigned earlier as he did not want to damage the image of the chief minister.

"It would have been damaging for the government if I had gone to jail while being a minister," he said.

He alleged that imposition of POTA on him by the then Mayawati regime was a political conspiracy.

Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had issued direction for withdrawal of POTA case against him, his father and cousin after assuming charge of the SP Government. But the Supreme Court had quashed the order and transferred the case to Madhya Pradesh.
