Jaipur/Kochi: At a time when row over beef ban is raging in many parts of the country, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje got school students to take a pledge to protect cows, trees and the Ganga at an event in Jaipur.

Over 50,000 students sang the national song 'Vande Mataram' to accompanying Sitarists at the event where Union Minister of State Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was also present.

Meanwhile in Kochi in Kerala, students of Maharajas College organised a beef festival inside the campus to protest against the lynching of a man in Dadri over rumours of storing beef in his house.

The event was aimed at feeding beef to as many students as possible. Cooked beef was distributed along with bread loaves to all those who were present at the event.
