In an attempt to flee abroad, a man from Rajasthan’s Churu district was arrested at Delhi airport, following allegations of harassment made by his wife. Rehman’s first wife, Farida Bano, filed a complaint with the police at the Bhadra police station, making serious allegations of dowry harassment and triple talaq against him. A lookout notice was issued for Rehman after these allegations, prompting his arrest as he tried to leave the country. Police, under DSP SC-ST Cell Hanumangarh Ranveer Sai, are transporting him back to Churu for further investigation.
Bano claimed that she supported Rehman’s business by selling the dowry she received during her marriage with him. She accused him of betrayal, asserting that he cheated her and married a Pakistani woman who, she alleged, was a spy and entered India illegally. Bano also alleged that Rehman issued her a triple talaq over the phone.
Mehvish, from Lahore, married Rehman in a second marriage and is currently in India on a 45-day tourist visa. Bano called for government intervention, asserting that Rehman informed her of his intention of bringing Mehvish to India illegally.
Rehman, a resident of Pithisar village and a father of two, connected with Mehvish over social media in 2020, alleged his first wife. Soon, their friendship developed into a romantic relationship through phone conversations and video calls. Mehvish, also previously married with two kids, proposed to Rehman in 2022, and they subsequently married through a video call. Finally, she arrived in India from Islamabad, Pakistan, on July 25 this year.
