Chennai-based Rasvihar, who participated for the first time at IIJW 2011, showcased their exquisite collection yesterday. Taking inspiration from nature, Ahalya of Rasvihar has segregated her jewellery pieces according to different themes. Presenting the show in three segments — Lace, Leaf and Navaratna — Rasvihar revealed their versatility with jewellery in different styles. Keeping the garments elegant using solid colours such as deep red, midnight blue and green, the beauty of the fragile jewellery was well depicted. Onto a more traditional look, her Navaratna collection, which represented the nine gemstones, is an arrangement of precious stones giving a subtle yet dramatic balance to the jewellery. Regarding the western offering, the sparkling diamonds and gold jewellery in Lace and Leaf had handcrafted jhumkis, kadas, bangles that had a mesh look. Also, worth mentioning is the tapering necklaces with princess cut emerald and marquise cut that added grandeur to the regal look. Keeping a contemporary look to the entire collection, the pieces were created from the most opulent uncut diamonds, pearls and precious stones. According to Ahalya, the filigree patterns and the sparkling kadas, leaf shaped earrings, the scalloped emerald and diamond necklace were designed for today’s women. Keeping it delicate and wearble, Ahalya has given each piece a vision of beauty flowing lace design.
