BHUBANESWAR: The universities of the State were on Friday served a three month time to compile detailed information about the research work they have conducted and completed.
Chancellor of Universities Murlidhar Chandrakant Bhandare, who chaired the Vice Chancellors (VC) Conference here, asked for a report from each university which he said must be uploaded on their websites. The varsities must indicate research work taken up and completed by each professor, publication of the research papers in national and international journals and research books. Ravenshaw University has already carried out such an exercise and the information is available departmentwise on its official website. The Governor asked the varsities to intensify Gyanalok Project under which NSS units take up literacy campaigns in targeted areas. Bhandare said the Project must be expanded in the tribal areas so that girls and boys from Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Koraput, Rayagada and Nuapada can benefit the most. The best performing university and NSS unit will be awarded at the State level, he said.

The VC Conference also discussed the issue of UGC recognition to Utkal University of Culture. The Government will take all measures to secure the UGC recognition soon.

Addressing the conference, Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei said the VCs must stick to the deadline for completion of pending works. The meeting discussed formulation of first statute of Ravenshaw University, allotment of additional land for its expansion and second campus, introduction of uniform pension rule in all universities, creation of new teaching and nonteaching posts and filling up the vacancies.
