HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumanth Rao has demanded that the state government resume the 115 acres of land allotted to the Raheja industrial group through the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).Talking with reporters here on Friday, he alleged that the company had transferred the allotted land to other companies to escape from the ongoing court cases.Rao said the APIIC had allotted the land to Rahejas at the rate of  Rs 50 lakh per acre when the value was more than Rs 2 crore for industrial and business growth of the state. In the last several years the government had allotted lands at cheaper rates.“It is time all such lands were taken back and used for public welfare.” He urged the government to give top priority to the housing programme during the next phase of Rachabanda programme which will begin on November 2.“The government should build 25,000 to 30,000 houses in every district in a time-bound programme. If it neglects housing, it will have to incur the wrath of the people,'' he said.Rao wrote to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on his recent Adilabad district tour and urged him to allot more funds and depute sufficient medical staff to control dengue fever cases in the district. Due to lack of medical facilities at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and several other hospitals people were going to hospitals in neighbouring Maharashtra, he said.
