Retired teacher molests minor girl, held

TIRUCHY: A retired teacher was arrested on charges of allegedly molesting a nine-year- old girl here on Thursday.  Sources said, J Terrence Philip (65),  the retired teacher from a private school in the city, was running a tuition centre at his residence in Subbiah Street in Sangiliyandapuram for more than two years.It is said, Kavitha (9) (name changed), a Class IV student and her elder brother from the same area were going to tuition classes for more than a year.On June 21, Terrence had asked Kavitha’s brother to go out for some work and allegedly sexually harassed Kavitha.  Since then, it is said, Kavitha showed aversion to tuition classes.On Thursday, when the parents insisted her on going to the tuition classes, the girl nervously narrated the incident to her mother. Subsequently, her mother lodged a complaint with the Golden Rock All Women Police Station who registered a case and arrested Terrence. He was produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
