BANGALORE: Supporting initiatives that encourage innovation among businesses, President, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry J R Bangera, said that the Government must extend financial support to encourage innovation in industries.Speaking at the inauguration of India Connect, 2011, an exhibition on products and technologies from the IT and Telecom sectors, he also urged the National Small Industries Corporation and Small Industries Development Bank of India to play their part in helping businesses absorb new technologies.India Connect 2011 and Print and Packtech World Expo 2011 were launched on Friday at Palace Grounds with over 240 businesses putting up stalls to showcase their products.“Over the next three days, we expect close to Rs 240 crores worth of business,” said Cyril Pereira, Managing Director, Triune Exhibitors Private Limited, the organiser of the two exhibitions.Highlighting the purpose of the exhibition, he said that it aims to create a platform for business-to-business connections.Zoho Corporation, a firm dealing in cloud computing technologies and a participant in the exhibition, feels that such exhibitions act as great platform for marketing.“Especially for small players like us, these initiatives help us get in touch with prospective customers,” said Vinayak, a representative.Releasing the exhibitor’s directory at the inauguration of the two exhibitions, Bangera said that such niche marketing measures must be given more impetus. Speaking to The New Indian Express, he said that FKCCI has planned to sign an Memorandum of Understanding with Triune Exhibitors to host two exhibitions in December in collaboration with Government of Karnataka.These exhibitions, mainly for the hospitality and food industry, will be held in December as part of the Global Investors Meet.
