BANGALORE: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda disclosed in the Assembly on Tuesday that about 6.43 lakh fake beneficiaries of various schemes have been identified. “The process of identifying fake beneficiaries of schemes such as pension for old-age, physically challenged and widows has been completed in 26 districts and the amount is being sent to the genuine beneficiaries,” the chief minister replied to a question from Venkatarao Nadagouda of the JD (S). Admitting that the temporary stopping of pension had caused problem to the people, Gowda said the state was losing `356 crore on account of fake beneficiaries. “About 27,000 applications were rejected during verfication of which 17,000 have been considered for pension.” Health Scheme MergerThe CM told the Assembly that the government is mulling over merging two health-related schemes, Arogya Bhagya and Yashawini, and come out with a new measure in order to bring in effeciveness. In response to another question from Venkatrao Nadagouda, Gowda said that the services of members of the power vigilance committee cannot be regularised under the existing rules. “These members have been taken on contract basis for one year in order to assist energy department officials in administrative work.” The CM also said that the state government will directly recruit 600 doctors through the KPSC shortly.
