HYDERABAD: Transport minister B Satyanarayana has instructed the RTC officials to prepare an action plan to replace 2,000 city buses with CNG buses in a phased manner to minimise pollution in the twin cities.He along with minister A Ramanarayana Reddy, RTC chief M Satyanarayana Rao, MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and mayor B Karthika Reddy flagged off 2 multi-axle buses, 18 Indra buses, 100 CNG buses and 180 super luxury, deluxe, express, Saptagiri express and Saptagiri ordinary buses at the Parade grounds on Tuesday.Speaking at a meeting organised to mark the occasion, Satyanarayana said 6,000 new buses would be introduced in the state in a phased manner replacing the worn-out buses. The RTC had already acquired 2,000 buses. About 2,000 buses would be introduced this fiscal and another 2,000 buses next fiscal.Indra buses would be operated from all the district headquarters to Hyderabad. Based on the response from people, Indra buses would also be run from the divisional headquarters. He thanked the finance minister for sanctioning Rs 200 crore to the RTC for acquisition of a new fleet of buses. He appealed to RTC employees to strive for the growth of organisation as it had incurred Rs 230 crore loss due to the strike. Salaries would be paid to the RTC employees in two days, he said.
