PATHANAMTHITTA: Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple will be opened on August 16 evening for the five-day celebrations of the Malayalam New Year.Melsanthi Sasi Nampoothiri will open the Sreekovil at 5.30 p.m. in the presence of Thantri Kandraru Maheswararu. As a practice, hardly any ritual will be conducted in the evening.Laksharchana will be conducted on the first day of the Malayalam New Year month of Chingam on August 17, Sabarimala executive officer Satheesh Kumar said.As a practice, Laksharchana will be held at Pampa Lord Ganapathi temple on August 18. Sahasrakalasam and Kalabhabhishekam will be the other special rituals to be conducted on all the five days, Satheeshkumar said.Udaysthamana pooja, Padi pooja and Pushpabhishekam will be the other rituals to be conducted. The hill shrine will be closed on August 21 evening after Athazha pooja and Harivarasanam.
