Satnam was beaten up by Anilkumar and Vivekanandan after Satnam had come to blows with another person housed in his cell. Four working inmates of the Centre were witness to this brutality which took place inside cell no. 4 of ward no. 6. on August 4. Satnam, who was left in the cell after being brutally beaten up, was found unconscious by evening. Though he was rushed to the Medical College Hospital, his life could not be saved, said the remand report. The four working inmates would be taken into custody for interrogation subject to permission from the court. Meanwhile, the family of Satnam on Monday filed a petition with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on the incident. The family is also planning to take up the matter with the Union Home Ministry, said Vimal Kishore, a cousin of Satnam Singh.
