HYDERABAD: Though unnerved by the Supreme Court’s dismissal of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s petition for a stay on CBI investigation into his assets, the YSR Congress party is putting up a brave front saying that it was only a minor setback and would not dampen its crusade against the Congress government and how it had sullied the image of late YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The YSR Congress leaders, who were in Idupulapaya on Tuesday to pay homage to late YSR were fanning out to their respective districts and are figuring out how to drum up support for their leader at a time when the Congress had redoubled its efforts to belittle Jagan following the dismissal of the SLP in the Supreme Court.According to party leader Bhuma Nagi Reddy, the Supreme court’s directive has not come as a surprise and that even if the Supreme Court had granted stay, it would have been only halting the CBI investigation.“We never sought from the Supreme Court any direction to stop the CBI from investigating the assets of our leader,” he said. He, however, felt that those who were in public life look for the verdict of the people and not that of the courts.‘’We are more interested in knowing how the people are reacting.According to reports, our leader has more acceptance as he could not get justice even in the courts,” he said, pointing out that the Supreme Court direction is not the be all and end all of the game.Former minister and legislator Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose said the Supreme court direction was on expected lines and that they were not attaching any importance to it.“We have our programme of sensitising the people on who the Congress is after Jagan Mohan Reddy. After reaching Kakinada (he was on travel) I will talk to the people in our district and draw up a progarmme,” he said. The most vocal among Jagan’s brigade Ambati Rambabu refused to come off high horse. He said the fight of the YSR Congress against the Congress leadership would continue regardless of the fact that the SC had directed that the CBI should continue its investigation.“In the end Jagan would emerge unscathed since neither late YSR nor Jagan did no wrong,” he said.Meanwhile, YSR loyalist and Nellore MP Mekatapati Rajamohan Reddy said they were not unduly perturbed over the SC’s decision.
