TIRUCHY: DMK south zone secretary M K Alagiri on Thursday showed signs of panic, below the veil of bravado, and resorted to unveiling threats against Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.Amid reports of the noose tightening around him, Alagiri said, ‘We will come back to power again. At that time, we will not only arrest Ammaiyar (Jayalalithaa), we will also arrest all the police officers who are foisting false cases against DMK men.”Coming out of prison after meeting ‘Attack’ Pandi, Alagiri charged that DMK partymen were being booked under false cases and were being carried in police vans like dogs. “This is one of the achievements of the AIADMK government in the first 100 days,” he said.With the arrest of DMK satraps Nehru and Veerapandi S Arumugam, now the focus has shifted to Alagiri, whose public threats about what would happen after five years could mean that he fears the worst.His remarks of bravado could also restore his image among the cadre, who are upset over reports of the ‘brave heart’ (anja nenjan) relying on white flag diplomacy. However, he did not deny or endorse press reports on his comments on Wednesday. He left even before the reporters could ask for clarifications about his remarks on DMK-colour-bordered dhoti during his Tiruchy prison visit.
