CHENNAI: Schools should come forward to screen documentary films, said Leela Samson, chairperson, Central Board of Film Certification, while attending the screening of documentary films made on Padma Subramaniyam – Bharatha Nattiyam and Kumari Kamala – in Chennai on Sunday.The two films screened at the special screening organised by the Films Division, Chennai, dwelt upon the talent of Padma Subramaniyam. Leela Samson, who was the chief guest, said that the Films Division had more than 200 documentaries that have been made about many veterans who made a mark in their respective vocations in the fields of art and culture. The Films Division also has several documentaries on war.She said schools should come forward to screen these rare documentary films so that the student community is benefited. Students, she said, should know the rich heritage the veterans have left behind and learn about their achievements as well.Earlier Sivasubramaniyam, assistant manager, Films Division welcomed the gathering.
