KOCHI: District Collector P I Sheik Pareeth has informed that the demolition of the second bay of North Overbridge will start on Thursday.The Collector said that the delay occurred in carrying out the maintenance and repair works on the Chittoor Road owing to rain posed the main impediment. The stretch from Rajaji Road to Pachalam Gate will be tarred and made suitable for vehicles within three days.The review meeting held last week under the aegis of Kochi Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Tom Jose had decided to dismantle the second bridge by Monday. It was also decided to do the tarring of the road during night time to avoid much traffic regulations during the peak hours. But the rain has delayed the work. The preparatory works are to be completed by October 26. The tarring of the stretch from Rajaji Road to Pachalam Gate will be completed by Monday. Apart from this, steps are on to tar the Pachalam-Chatiath road. With the completion of work on this road, the traffic to Vypeen from the city can be deviated through this route.
