HYDERABAD: It is more or less hellish experience for the residents of the Secunderabad Cantonment with drinking water being supplied for one hour in four days. To make matters worse, many borewells that were dug up in different wards have dried up.Giving vent to their helplessness and anger, about 500 residents staged a dharna in front of Secunderabad Cantonment Board chief executive officer S Balakrishana’s house at Anna Nagar Chowrasta in Secunderabad for four hours on Thursday and demanded regular and adequate water supply.Meera, a resident of Indiramma Nagar, said, “We did not get drinking water in the last four days. After repeated requests, SCB authorities sent a water tanker on Wednesday afternoon but it was not at all adequate.” Of 450 borewells dug a decade ago, 40 percent have become defunct.
