THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The security at the Poojapura Central Prison here has been beefed up following the arrival of suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba operative Thadiyantavide Nazir. He is kept under 24-hour surveillance with a camera installed inside his cell. Restrictions are also imposed on Nazir to interact with other inmates and staff of the prison. His accomplices, Shabaz and Yoosuf, who were also transferred to Poojapura Central Prison along with Nazir, were also given similar treatment in the prison. The three of them are housed at separate blocks to prevent any kind of communication among them. Measures have also been taken to prevent other prisoners from establishing contact or communication with Nazir,Shabaz and Yoosuf. The trio were shifted to Poojapura from Viyur after Nazir filed a plea before the Thrissur Magistrate Court stating that his life was not safe in the Central Prison there after he received threats on life. He had also stated in the plea that he was not provided any facilities in the prison, following which he was shifted to the capital. Nazir, Shabaz and Yoosuf, are the main accused in the 2008 Bangalore bomb blast cases. They have also been reported to have been involved in variuous operations of terror modules in the state. Nazir is also the first accused in the case of burning of a bus of Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation in Kalamassery.It was on Friday last, the three men were shifted from Viyur central prison to Poojappura prison following the directive of National Investigation agency special court in Kochi.
