HYDERABAD: Two days after Telangana legislators tendered their resignations demanding a separate state, there is a low but firm response from students and political parties in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.They staged agitations, rastarokos and dharnas on Wednesday demanding the legislators from Seemandhra region to make efforts to keep Andhra Pradesh united. They also demanded the Centre to find a solution to the problem but firmly wanted it to ensure that the state remains united.Students of Samaikyandhra Vidyarthi Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Wednesday burnt effigies of Seemandhra leaders at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam demanding people’s representatives from Seemandhra region to raise their voice in support of a united state or resign from their posts. Though police officials initially deployed central forces in the University suspecting trouble, they later withdrew the forces as the situation remained peaceful.  In Srikakulam, students of Dr B R Ambedkar University at Etcherla took out rallies, organised dharnas and burnt effigies of Telangana leaders on NH-5 for demanding bifurcation of the state.TDP legislators led by D Umamaheswara Rao staged protests at Nandigama in Krishna district and stalled vehicular traffic on NH9 demanding the central government not to heed to the demands of separatist parties.They demanded that legislators from Seemandhra region should be prepared to tender their resignations if the need arises and the Centre agrees for bifurcation.  Protests were also organised in Kakinada, Rajahmundry and a few other places in Anantapur demanding a united Andhra Pradesh. In Kadapa, activists of Samaikyandhra JAC staged a rastaroko at ITI circle. Meanwhile, students of Acharya Nagarjuna University announced they would take up agitation from Thursday onwards and organise dharnas and rallies over the next two days in Guntur.
