New Delhi: Teesta Setalvad landed in a controversy on Friday after tweeting a photoshopped picture seeking to draw a parallel between the Hindu goddess Kali holding a severed head and the recently inhuman beheading of a US journalist by an ISIS terrorist.
In the picture, Kali's face is morphed into a terrorist's face and another ISIS terrorist is depicted with the sudarshan chakra(the weapon used by the Hindu god Vishnu). Outraged by the picture, social media users demanded the arrest of Teesta.
However Setalvad who is the secretary of Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) an organisation formed for fighting for justice for the victims of communal violence in the state of Gujarat in 2002, not only deleted the tweet, but also apologized in her blog. Unfortunately, because of the gaffe, Teesta has started to trend on social media.
