Panaji: Order on bail plea of 'Tehelka' founder editor Tarun Tejpal case is expected on Wednesday afternoon.
A Goa court has already heard the arguments of Tejpal's lawyer and the prosecution and is likely to pronounce the order on the bail application.
Tarun Tejpal has been lodged at a Goa jail for over a month for allegedly raping a young female colleague during Tehelka's 'Think Festival held in Goa, last November.
The Goa police are expected to file a charge sheet in the case in a few days. They are opposing his bail plea on the grounds that he could influence the case.
Tejpal is currently held at the Sada sub-jail at Vasco in south Goa. According to reports, the son of a leading playwright will arrive from Bangalore to depose before the Judicial Magistrate on January 15. He was present at the Think Fest in Goa during which the alleged incident happened.
The Crime Branch has already contacted Hollywood star Robert De Niro through his attorney and sent a questionnaire seeking to corroborate certain statements made by the accused as well as the victim in the case.
