New Delhi: The war of words turned ugly between Tehelka Editor-in-Chief Tarun Tejpal and the complainant who was allegedly sexually assaulted by him as she wrote a letter to the Goa Police alleging harassment and intimidation by Tejpal and his family.
The complainant said, "My identity is deliberately being leaked by Tejpal and his associates to harass me. My photographs have been sent to several people from Tehelka server to try and create problems for me."
The woman journalist who used to work for Tehelka had alleged that Tejpal had sexually assaulted her inside the lift of a five-star hotel during an event in Goa in November 2013.
On Tuesday, Tejpal had written a letter of to the investigating officer stating that wrong allegations were being leveled against him by the officer. He had contented that the investigating officer's complaint that he was trying to influence the police was wrong.
Tejpal was arrested by the Goa Crime Branch on November 30, 2013 in Goa after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by a local court.
He is currently lodged in Sada sub jail after the court sent him to judicial custody. The investigating officer has already recorded statements of several people, including that of former Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury and Tejpal's daughter, along with the deposition of the victim.
The crime branch officials expect to file a "water tight" case against Tejpal.
