THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Accusing the State Government and managements of a collusion in the self-financing college admission issue, the SFI has warned of a fresh round of agitations. It is a mystery that the State Government continues to maintain that discussions are still on with medical college managements even though an agreement in this regard was reached on August 4, SFI state secretary P Biju told mediapersons here on Saturday. The UDF Government and the managements had reached a secret understanding on the issue, he alleged. The SFI also demanded the UDF Government to take steps to revive the ‘single teacher schools’ which provide the only means of education to several tribal communities in the state. The number of such schools have slipped from 446 to 344, Biju said. Up to March 2011, the Centre used to fund such schools. Now the funding has stopped. In Wayanad and Palakkad districts, teachers have launched agitations and the SFI plans to join them, he said.
