NALGONDA: Handloom and textiles minister Shankar Rao had to face T agitators’ ire when he visited MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s indefinite hunger strike camp here on Saturday.Tension prevailed at Komatireddy’s camp as protestors shouted slogans against the minister, demanding his resignation.Police intervened and brought the situation under control. Later, addressing a gathering, Shankar Rao assured people that he would meet with Rahul Gandhi on November 14 and discuss the Telangana issue. The minister said that Congress would make Telangana a reality.Mollifying angry people at the camp, Shankar Rao said he visited Komatireddy as a doctor and added that the MLA’s life was also important, apart from fighting for Telangana.“I will make the sacrificed lives of youths (for Telangana) count in every way,” the minister promised.Meanwhile, MLA Komatireddy said that it was not correct of people to shout slogans against the minister when he was at the camp to express solidarity with him. Earlier, Shankar Rao interacted with handloom weavers about their problems at Collectorate and held a review meeting with the officers concerned in this regard.During the review meeting, weavers association general secretary Ganji Muralidhar questioned the minister on why the government did not fulfill the promises made to weavers. Replying to their questions, Shankar Rao said that the association leaders were behaving like enemies to the minister and called them ‘brokers’.To this, the aggravated leaders had a heated argument with the minister who walked out of the meeting without informing them.
