BANGALORE: City-based architects Krupa Rajangam and Archana Prasad in collaboration with French film and documentary maker Clemence Barret have come up with a short film on Russell Market. The film deals with fire tragedy and the traders campaign to save it.The architects have come up with a concept called “Neighbourhood Diaries” which focuses on the historical value of Bangalore apart from its pensioners paradise tag. Earlier the architects delved into the details, origin and importance of Blackpally area presently known as Elgin talkies area. Now they have again planned to come up with the short film ‘Trade - Off?’ A short film on Russell  Market. The architects plan to screen the short film at Russell Market itself on April 28 in the evening to attract public and know their opinion on the market and the tussle between the civic body and traders.“The film synopsis deals with one of the few remaining historic covered markets of Bangalore, how a recent fire which destroyed a section of the market has brought this topic into public focus. BBMP wants to demolish the structure and re-use the site for a mall while traders have gone ahead and restored it,” said Krupa Rajangam. The stand-off between the authority and traders and the discussion on whether this site is heritage or not still remains.
