KOZHIKODE: Vadakara police on Saturday registered a case against CPM state committee member MV Jayarajan and other leaders for illegally staging a sit-in protest in front of the Crime Detachment office, Vadakara, on Friday.Jayarajan staged the sit-in demanding the release of the party’s Koothuparamba area committee office-secretary C Babu after he was taken into custody on Thursday in connection with the P murder case.The police registered his arrest on Friday on charges of giving shelter to the gangsters in the party office at Koothuparamba. Later, he was granted bail on two sureties and Jayarajan stopped the protest on Friday evening.Jayarajan, CPM Kannur District Committee member C Bhasakaran Master, Koothuparamba Municipal Chairperson K V Padmaja Padmanabhan and 200 others were booked under various sections, including 143,147, 148 and 283 of the IPC, Vadakara police said.
