New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi, who had earlier resigned as chairperson of the National Advisory Council (NAC) was non-committal on whether she would again accept the post or not.
"I cannot say", she said when asked whether she would accept the post of NAC chairperson after her emphatic victory in the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha bypolls.
Gandhi had resigned from the post on March 23, 2006, in the wake of controversy over MPs holding offices of profit.
Describing her victory as a win for democracy and values, Gandhi thanked the people of Rae Bareli for reposing faith in her overwhelmingly.
"I would like to express my gratitude to the people of Rae Bareli who have reposed faith in me", she said adding she would keep her promises with them.
The Congress chief had a special word of praise for her son and Amethi Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi, who relentlessly campaigned for her to the thumping victory.
"Rahul, his team and party workers have worked very hard", she said.
About the party's overall performance in five states, Gandhi said media has been reporting that Congress and UPA would not fare well at the hustings.
"But in Assam, it seems we will form the government, while in Tamil Nadu our alliance has won. We are happy."
However, she said results in Kerala and West Bengal have been disappointing but put up a brave front saying it happens in politics.
"Sometimes we lose and sometimes we win," she said.
