KOCHI: A T Mathew searched through the sea of faces for a familiar one. Even though he had known each one of them personally 45 years ago, the entire group seemed to be of strangers.Mathew is one of the 27 ex-students of the 1963-66 BSc Physics batch of St Albert’s College, who had come together in a rare alumni meet in Kochi the other day. “Since we had not met after completing the course, we could not recognise each other. Even those who shared benches had to introduce themselves,” said K G Michael, who had organised the event with the help of Mathew.Mathew, a PWD contractor and Michael, a retired PWD official, had maintained contact throughout. Since, the college records did not have the current contact details of ex-students, the task of bringing the classmates together was harder than expected. The duo took nearly two years to track their classmates, sent them personalised letters at the available addresses and found phone numbers by pondering over the telephone directories.“Out of the 44-member batch, only 37 are alive today and only 27 could make it to the event.
