MADURAI: The state government on Monday challenged an order passed by a single judge of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court granting a 15-day parole to Ravi alias Ravichandran, who was convicted to a life term in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. The State contended that Ravi alias Ravichandranfailed to show good conduct on at least three occasions between 1999 and 2008 in the prison. On behalf of the State, Coimbatore Central Prison additional superintendent R Anbalagan, who is also the in-charge of the Madurai Central Prison, said that Ravi was found quarrelling with Santhan, another convict in the same case, following which he was given a severe warning on October 4, 1999. On December 7, 1999 Ravi alias Ravichandran reportedly attacked Santhan with his food plate, following which, a period of 10 days was deducted from his remission for good conduct. Similarly, on July 8, 2008, Ravi instigated four other prisoners to argue with the superintendent “as if certain facilities were not available”, the superintendent said, while adding that Ravi was subsequently issued another warning over the incident.
