KOTTAYAM: The State Government will spend Rs 15 crore for developing more facilities at Fort Kochi, Tourism Minister A P Anil Kumar has said.Launching the tourism photography website ‘keralain360.com’ at the Press Club here on Friday, the minister said that the detailed project report on the venture is ready. The government will commence its work by January. He said Kerala has not been able to keep up the pace with which it had promoted tourism a quarter century ago. The state is far behind Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat in marketing tourism globally. The UDF government’s policy is to spot new destinations and improve infrastructure at the existing ones. The government has included eight more tourist spots under the responsible tourism programme. It is all set to launch the KTDC pilgrim tourism package covering various centres like Bharananganam, Malayatoor, Guruvayur and Kadampuzha.The tourism website is promoted by journalist Siril Thomas. Thekkinkad Joseph, director, School of Journalism and Visual communication, welcomed the gathering.Kottayam Press Club president Joseph Sebastian delivered the presidential address.
