DHENKANAL: The Dhenkanal education district has put in place stringent measures to ensure hassle-free HSC examinations from Tuesday. As many as 18,034 students of Dhenkanal and 16,599 of Angul, both coming under the education district, are scheduled to appear in the examination. All the sensitive examination centres have been put under surveillance. Official sources said seven nodal centres had been opened in various places across Dhenkanal district. These nodal centres would provide question paper packets to 76 examination centres in Dhenkanal and 62 in Angul. Besides, all the examination and nodal centres will have round-the-clock security till completion of the examinations. Sources said 10 squads had been constituted for all the centres. Earlier, when the examination started last month, at Joranda High School in Dhenkanal district and Sanamula High School near Boinda in Angul district public had created disturbances and tried to barge into the examination centres with mala fide intention. They were stopped forcibly and the situation was brought under control. The Section 7 of the Odisha Conduct of Examination Act, 1988, prohibits gathering of people within 100 metre of the centres at least two hours before the start of exams. In Angul district, deputy director (coordination) and director (elementary education) Supriya Mallick will be in charges of the examinations and report to the Board of Secondary Education (BSE). SP Satish Gajbhiye said he had provided one team of armed police to each nodal centre apart from mobile police teams who will oversee the situation. “In case malpractice is reported from any centre, recommendation of its cancellation will be sent to the BSE,” he said. Anyone found indulging in unfair practices outside any examination centre will be arrested, Gajbhiye said.
