BANGALORE: The state government’s suggestion to explore the possibilities of setting up of a revenue sharing mechanism between the sugar industry and the sugarcane growers is a good proposition to consider, C Rangarajan, Chairman of Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, said here on Thursday.Speaking to newsmen after his meeting with the Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on decontrolling the sugar sector, Rangarajan added the state government suggested on evolving a revenue sharing formula between the sugar industries and the growers.The revenue sharing would be in addition to the minimum procurement price given to the sugarcane growers. Rangarajan said supplementing MSP with the revenue sharing idea is a good proposition and it would be taken into consideration while submitting recommendations to the Prime Minister.C Rangarajan is heading a committee formed by the PM to look into the issue of decontrolling the sugar sector and interacting with the stakeholders in this regard.Rangarajan already spoke to Uttar Pradesh, the highest sugarcane growing state in the country.
