The Summer School on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Inclusive Agriculture Development will begin at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, from July 3.

The Summer School on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Inclusive Agriculture Development will begin at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, from July 3.

The 21-day short course, sponsored by Indian Council for Agriculture Research, has vast scope, since the application of ICT in agriculture was becoming important, especially in the context of ushering in the second green revolution, the University said in a release on Monday.

Totally 25 extension scientists from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are attending the course, the release said.

The participants would be exposed to scope on potential of ICT driven extension, ICT-based market intelligence, E-commerce and Futures marketing. This would also help in forecasting, gender mainstreaming, cloud computing, remote sensing and harnessing mobile technology for agriculture advisory service.
