Tamil Nadu Artists Set World Record By Performing 28 Different Dance Forms In 2 Hours

In Mayiladuthurai of Tamil Nadu, a program was held by Abhinaya Natya Palli under the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’, where dances from 28 states were staged on one podium. In this unique event, 45 dancers participated and staged dances over a course of 2 hours. Only two dance forms, namely Kathak of Uttar Pradesh state and Odissi of Odisha were performed by artists of the respective states. All other state dances were performed by students of Mayiladuthurai Abhinaya Dance School itself. The grand program ended with Bharat Natyam of Tamil Nadu, following which all other artists representing different dance forms gathered on stage and stood alongside the National Flag, signifying diversity and unity of the country, emphasising on the theme.

Finally the song Semmozhiyaana Thamizh Mozhiyaam, composed by AR Rahman and penned by former Chief Minister Karunanidhi was played, which encapsulates the rich heritage of Tamil culture.The organisation, International Pride World Record, registered this as a world record. Never before had dance forms from all 28 states in India, been performed at the same stage on the same day. The program was coordinated by Umamakeshwari Kalyan, guru of Abhinaya Natyapalli, Mayiladuthurai.
