Teacher bashes up student, mother

VISAKHAPATNAM: A Class X student of Zilla Parishad High School and his mother were manhandled by the physical education teacher (PET) of the school in the New Gajuwaka area of the city on Monday.Police said the student, V Jogi Kumar, did not wear his school uniform on Monday and, therefore, sat in a separate room in the school along with his four friends.The PET, U Pydaiah, asked them to sit in their classroom. Jogi Kumar showed reluctance to sit in his classroom on the plea that he was not wearing the school uniform. According to sources, the student had told the teacher that he could not wear the uniform as it was dirty.But the answer infuriated the teacher who then thrashed him up with a stick.Kumar narrated the incident to his mother Lakshmi who went to the school and entered into a heated arguments with the teacher.Pydaiah lost his cool yet again and beat up both the boy and his mother. Seeing his mother Lakhsmi being hit in the stomach by the teacher, Kumar hurled a stone at Pydaiah and fled. Police said Kumar and his mother were admitted to a private hospital in Gajuwaka and Pydaiah to another private hospital. District education officer A Saibabu said he would order an inquiry into the incident.
