Follow us:WhatsappFacebookTwitterTelegram.cls-1{fill:#4d4d4d;}.cls-2{fill:#fff;}Google NewsThe people of Pulloorampara on Wednesday bid a tearful farewell to the family of Biju Thundathil, who perished in Monday’s landslide in the hilly region.The bodies of Biju’s father Ouseph, mother Elikutty, wife Lissy and children Amal and Joel were laid to rest at the St Joseph’s Church in Pulloorampara at a ceremony that was attended by thousands of people.The bodies were brought to Anakkampoyil from the Kozhikode Medical College, where the postmortem was conducted,  around 11.30 am and were kept for public viewing at Anakkampoyil till 1 pm. From there, the bodies were taken to the St Joseph’s Church, accompanied by hundreds of people in a funeral procession that covered than six km. The body of 9-year-old Jyotsna, who has been reported missing in the landslide, is yet to be recovered and a search operation is going on. Jyotsna was  declared dead by the authorities on Tuesday but they later said the body of the girl was yet to be found.Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash visited the area and said that the disaster had caused losses to the tune of `150 crore. He also attended a meeting of officials called to evaluate the damage caused by the landslide at the Pulloorampara Parish Hall and announced that the specifics of the compensation package would be decided at  a special meeting on Thursday.He announced that camp sheds would be constructed on the land owned by the Kerala State Housing Board in Thiruvambadi to temporarily house the people who had lost their houses in the landslide. Fourteen houses had been destroyed completely while 38 houses had been destroyed partially.A total of 86 victims are housed in the Manjuvayal Vimala UP School while 130 people are housed in the Anakkampoyil Parish Hall. He also said  400 farmers had been affected by the landslide and 750 acres of agricultural land had been destroyed. The total agricultural loss was calculated at `8 crore while the cost of the land washed away would amount to `75 crore.Four days will be required to completely restore electricity in the region. MPs M I Shanavas, M K Raghavan and MLAs C Moyinkutty, Thomas Unniyadan, Roshy Augustine and District Collector K V Mohan Kumar attended the meeting. Prakash also handed over an aid of `50,000 to Biju who lost all members of his family.
