New Delhi: The bail plea of founder of the Tehelka magazine Tarun Tejpal, accused in a sexual assault case, will come up for hearing at a Goa court on Friday. The order of the court is expected at 2.30 pm.
Tejpal was arrested in November 2013 and charged with rape and sexual assault of a junior colleague.
On Thursday, he moved a plea before the court to permit him to visit his ailing mother who is in a hospital in Panaji.
The application along with attached copies of Tejpal's mother's medical certificates was submitted before Additional Sessions Judge.
He said that his mother Shakuntala Tejpal suffers from brain tumour and is in the last stages of her life.
She is admitted in an intensive care unit of a hospital in Mapusa town, 50 km away from the Sada sub-jail, where he is currently lodged, his application said.
Tejpal pleaded for court directives to the jail superintendent, to take him to meet his mother in hospital.
