HYDERABAD: Sakala Janula Samme is still continuing in the region and employees from nearly 140 departments are participating in the strike, TJAC convener prof M Kodandaram has said.Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, he said that due to the strike, the functioning of the government departments was paralysed in the region. He said they exempted only APSRTC, Singareni and educational institutions from the strike so that not to inconvenience the public, but they too were adopting other methods to mark their protest including wearing of black badges and conducting lunch-hour demonstrations.Efforts were being made to organise relay hunger strikes across the region in coordination with resigned elected representatives to bring unity among the political parties, Kodandaram said.Meanwhile the TJAC has decided to organise Telangana March in the second week of November in Hyderabad as part of their agitational programme. The blueprint of the proposed programme would be finalised during the next TJAC meeting likely to be held shortly, he said.“TRS is politically and legally fighting against the Polavaram project. We are not interested in its business affairs. No further clarifications are required on this,’’ the TJAC chairman categorically said. He demanded the state government to cancel the tenders which were finalised in presence of the chief minister recently. On the other hand the TJAC is of the view that the UPA government would make its stand clear on Telangana before winter session of the Parliament scheduled to begin from November 23.They also feel that a section of media is reading too much in between the lines of the statements made by Prime Minister and the finance minister. “While both the leaders said it was not possible to take a quick decision, a section of media has misquoted saying that Telangana issue is difficult to solve,” a TJAC leader said.
