BANGALORE: A 65-year-old push cart vendor died after he accidentally fell on the road and injured his head. The incident was reported at Malagala in Jnanabharathi police station limits on Sunday night.The deceased has been identified as Hanumanthappa, a resident of Malagala.According to the police, Hanumanthappa was a pushcart vendor selling vegetables. On Sunday night, while returning home, he lost control of the cart whose handle broke while pushing it on a slopping road and fell down. His head hit a boulder on the footpath and he sustained severe head injuries. He succumbed to injuries while being transported to the hospital. Later, his body was shifted to Victoria Hospital mortuary. In another accident, a nine-month pregnant woman and her unborn baby were killed in Banasawadi traffic police station limits on Monday afternoon. Geetha (23) was killed on the spot after a ten-wheel petrol tanker ran over her. Her husband Gundappa, a teacher at a private school in Vidyaranyapura, sustained minor injuries in the accident. According to police, Geetha was staying at her parents’ home at Malur. As her delivery date was nearing, Gundappa was bringing her to the city on a bike. When the couple were going near Kammanahalli Junction on the outer ring road, a ten-wheel petrol tanker rear park touched their bike. As Geetha lost control and fell from the bike, the rear wheel of the tanker ran over her abdomen killing both mother and the child, the police said.
