CHENNAI: The Ampa Skywalk Mall, the venue of the Dabur Amla Nelli Hair Oil Miss Beautiful Black Hair 2011 contest, was buzzing with activity on Thursday. The event was to be judged by actress Sneha, whose images the scores of volunteers who were present at the venue sported. Registration, that was open from noon, saw a number of hopeful girls sign up for the contest, as they looked around their bags for combs and mirrors at the mention of Sneha. After 11 finalists were selected based on the assessment done by the representative hair expert, they were given oil massages, right in the middle of the mall. They closed their eyes, enjoying every bit of the massage, not aware of the hundreds of pairs of eyes looking at them. The spectators got a little impatient, as most of them had gathered to meet Sneha in real life. Finally, a murmur went up as she walked down an escalator, in a black dress with dazzling silver accessories. Waving to an unenthusiastic audience, she settled down to judge the contest. As the 11 participants walked the ramp, some of them being overly ambitious, one got the impresion that the oil massage administered to the participants before the contest might not have been a good idea. In barely a couple of minutes, Sneha was ready to announce the winner of the title. Krithika, a shy girl with long, jet black hair, won the title Dabur Amla Nelli Hair Oil Miss Beautiful Black Hair 2011. “I am very happy to win this title and I am a big fan of Sneha. So, it is great to receive this award from her,” she gushed.
