PARADIP: Three police personnel were suspended for allegedly supplying a mobile phone to a dreaded criminal during his appearance in a court on Thursday. Confirming the incident, SP SS Devadatta Singh said constables, Saubhagya Patnaik and Sangram Das and havildar Brajakishore Jena have been suspended for dereliction of duty.Sources said a dreaded criminal Prasant Das alias Tapu was recently arrested for his alleged involvement in the bombing at Katra liquor shop and a firing incident. He had been shifted to Choudwar Central Jail in Cuttack following a ruckus at the local jail. Tapu was recently taken to Jagatsinghpur for a court hearing. After he was brought back to jail, the warden at Choudwar recovered a mobile phone from his possession and informed Jagatsinghpur police. The Inspector General of Prisons sought the intervention of Jagatsinghpur SP for action against the errant police personnel.
